Prince Whatley- UltraMarathon Runner
1) Run Consistently
2) Increase mileage
gradually
3) Do a weekly long run
4)Use speed work sparingly
5) If/when you get hurt, back
off and come back more
slowly
"Speed Kills"
I think I've avoided injury by
running a lot of slow  miles. i
think you can maintain your
fitness pretty well without
doing any speed work, just
putting in the miles goes a
long way.

Prince is Team Hathorne's Untramarathon
representative.Prince has completed13
marathons and 14 Untras todate. His
longest distance is 50 miles, but he aspires
to run the Western States 100 mile
endurance race in one day. His near term
goal is to run the Chicago Marathon in
under 3 hours (did he just jinx himself by
putting that in print? [and why is he {am
I}speaking in third person]).Ok the cat's
out of the bag, I'm writing my own
bio.BTW the pic of me is me 'pacing' a
real runner at Western States. I 'only' ran
45 miles. That's why I run Ultra's, so I can
say "I 'only' ran 45 miles. The other 'cool'
thing about Prince is he's run
EVERYDAY since July 1, 2004.
1) "What a bunch of wussies, they're only running a
marathon."-Prince Whatley the day after running his 1st 50 mile race,
returning to the same loop course to run a marathon.

2) "One day we will all be known as heros." Prince Whatley, the
evening after running the Boston Marathon 2004 (2nd hottest on
record) after more than one Sierra Nevada Pale Ale.
